Sagrada Familia is the perfect photography spot for some nice shots in Barcelona. Actually all Gaudi buildings are perfect spots for photography in Barcelona: Casa Batllo’s interiors, La Pedrera rooftop and la Sagrada Familia both inside and outside.
In the outside we can find nice photography spots in the afternoon, the cranes in the tower are a problem cause they we’ll appear in our composition no matter what angle we choose, Only the passion façade, that was not actually done by Gaudi but by one of his followers has an angle were you can get rid of the cranes or hide them more as you can see in this picture below.
The best Sagrada Familia photo spot to catch the Gaudi façade is from across the lake located in Plaça Gaudi (just in front of it) but is always full of people, mind going early at sunrise or at late evening hours. In summer at the late evening hours the sun is not falling in the façade but it can be beautiful for a photoshooting if the idea is to catch a person in the foreground.
In the morning we can get the façade with the sun falling. You’ll need an extra wide lens if you want to catch the Sagrada Familia reflected in the pool. Or, another solution is to do creative compositions with the reflection.
The Sagrada Familia interior is ideal for shooting. The Gaudi’s concept was making a jungle of stone where the trees were the pillars bathe by the colors and light of stained glass windows. For some explanation of the history and construction of the cathedral watch our video below. The interior is very bright, so, you shouldn’t have problems with the prohibition of using a tripod.
